Kyle Jordan Mueller Returns from China... Alive and Rapping!

The rumour is, Kyle Jordan Mueller is dead.

At least that's what I heard on the internet... but I assure you, he is alive and well and is back with a brand new drum cover. This time though, he has switched it up by adding a little rap in the mix. Looking to expand on his musical abilities, Kyle has begun not only covering tracks on the drums, but also covering them vocally. The first of this new experiment comes in the form of 2000's "Forgot About Dre" by Dr. Dre and Eminem.

When I got the call from KJM that this was his next cover, I was a little taken aback, but I assured him that we could do it right and that shooting it in a studio setting would be best way for us to soften the blow to his hardcore audience. We split the shoot between two days and two different locations: AK Audio Media in South County, St. Louis and the Leather Trade Studios in Downtown St. Louis. It is possible that future video may be on location shoots, outside of studio spaces and could even swing the way of more rapping and less drumming, but until then, I thoroughly enjoy this new format!

This was by far the longest post production I have ever had on a KJM video, and it was mostly due to my indecisiveness on how much of each instrument we should show. Especially since we were trying to highlight Kyle's vocal abilities, his drum skills would unfortunately have to take a back seat.

Enjoy the track and leave you comments below!

KJM Gets All METAL... in a CAVE!!

It's been a quick minute since the last time I was able to bring you a NEW Kyle Jordan Mueller video, but alas... HERE IT IS!

After touring with The Dangerous Summer this past spring and hitting up spots on Warped Tour this summer, KJM had a strong urge to come back to his roots with a straight Screamo cover, and the track he ultimately chose was Of Mice and Men's "O.G. Loko."

When first approached about the concept, I welcomed it with open arms! For the last year, I have collaborated with Kyle on videos that strictly stayed in the vein of Pop/Top 40 and for the first time (besides his TDS cover video) he wanted to do something completely outside of the box. I knew right away that this direction would not be suited for shooting inside a recording studio, so he reached out to a few unique locations, including the one he ultimately chose, Crystal City Underground.

Located in Crystal City, MO (about 20 minutes South of St. Louis), CCU is a large underground tavern and amphitheater that host many live bands and other local events in a vast cavern that stretches along the banks of the Mississippi River. Upon entering the cave I was completely blown away by the Jurassic Park-esque quality it portrayed. Rain was beating down on my windshield as I approached a large metal gate that guarded a narrow wooden bridge, overlooking a rather brisk stream of water. Fog covered the roadway across the stream and I physically had to get out of my Jeep to open the gate.

Once across, I entered the first of two cavern areas, bitch black and damp. That led to another opening, which appeared to be in the middle of a rock quarry, on the other side of which was the official entrance to Crystal City Underground.

Inside of the Cave was a bar, a theatre, Frisbee golf, 4-Wheelers, a giant stage and more probably left to be explored by those braver than I. Not to mention Kyle Mueller, who was already set up on top of a giant metal festival stage that seemed to have been on loan from the original Woodstock. Deep within the cold cavern, I filmed Kyle going to town on some double bass fills and nearly destroying his beautiful cymbals.

I hope you enjoy and as always, please leave your comments below.

Kyle Jordan Mueller returns from touring with "Both of Us"

Already clearing 1000 plays in less than 24 hours, Kyle Jordan Mueller's newest drum cover is his first since touring the world with The Dangerous Summer this spring. The cover is for the track "Both of Us" by Atlanta rapper B.o.B and country dreamboat, Taylor Swift.

This is now my SIXTH cover video with Kyle, and the first rap song since our enormous hit video for Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" almost exactly one year ago. In my mind, the B.o.B. cover is by far one of our best and really showcases Kyle's precise playing ability and his tireless attention to detail.

Watch it, tell your friends, make them watch it and leave me comments below!

"Part of Me" launches 6 hours ahead of Katy Perry's music video

What a race to the finish line the last 24 hours have been!

When news came down last week that Katy Perry was releasing the Official music video for her new song "Part of Me" on March 21st at 7:30pm, I knew I had my work cut off for me! We had just filmed CeCe's version of the brand new track on the Saturday prior (March 10th) and I hadn't even started the edit yet. faced with a creative dilemma, I put my brain to the test and began toiling away at making this the best video it could be in the shortest amount of time!

Here's a little Behind the Video: Wanting a "colorful" and "empowering" feel for the new cover video, CeCe suggested finding an area filled with amazing street art. Well, in St. Louis, MO the best place to find the most creative and beautiful graffiti is at the levee wall on Leonard K. Sullivan Blvd., just next to the Mississippi River.

The painted wall stretches for at least two miles south of the Arch, showcasing some of the most talented street artists in the St. Louis Metro area. While we were there, we were lucky enough to encounter a few of them, who were kind enough to let us film them as they worked. DRONE, DEATH, DESU and KARNAGE allowed us to film them in action and even took a minute to permanently mark CeCe's place on the wall.

I also decided to experiment with some stomp motion photography and shoot continuous photos of CeCe walking around the riverfront, with the graffiti wall in the background. I was extremely happy with how they turned out and am possibly looking forward to doing an entire video in stop motion in the very near future!

Anyway, that's all for now, expect new videos from Kyle Jordan Mueller (with The Dangerous Summer) and SteryoType Clothing real soon!

    Thanks for watching,

KJM Leaves For Tour - Gets Over 3,000 Plays in Less Than 48 Hours!

I failed again... Last Friday night (cue the Katy Perry), the 27th, I was supposed to be down at a club called Heartbreaker's in downtown St. Louis. I was supposed to be there because Kyle Jordan Mueller was playing a live set of his cover songs along with a live DJ, DJ TYTY (of Tear Out The Heart). This was the second performance of its kind by the pair, the first occured last month... when, I passed out at home waiting for the witching hour to arrive, so I could head down to the club.

Well, this past Friday ran the same route, when as I was getting ready to enjoy the action thrill ride of Liam Neeson's newest romp The Grey, I checked my facebook and saw that the event was currently in production... I had thought that it was on Saturday.

To make matters worse, it was Kyle's last night in St. Louis until May, when he returns home from a tour with The Dangerous Summer (Hopeless Records). So twice now, I've missed an awesome opportunity to film a live performance of Kyle in action... and for that I apologize to all you die hard KJM fans.

Before Kyle left, we shot a BRAND NEW drum cover... pure. raw. drum. cover. No flashy production, no extra musicians. Just Kyle, myself and my camera... Oh, and Andrew Kremer, who runs AKAudioMedia in St. Louis, where we recorded the song/video on very short notice. Kyle chose the track "Miscommunication" by The Dangerous Summer to highlight the tour he was about to embark on and to introduce his fans worldwide to the band he was embarking with.

When I saw "worldwide"... I mean it, this dude has hardcore fans from British Columbia, Canada to Columbia, South America. It's serious shit (Dr. Emmett L. Brown). So we thrw together a completely improved intro to the video, letting fans in the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, U.K., Belgium, Switzerland, Part Unknown, etc. where to see Kyle in person this Spring.

Unfortunately, as things look right now, this will be the last video I do with Kyle until May... so hang tight, keep your eyes peeled for new videos from other artists and, as always....

    Stay tuned,
